ND Profile

Cara Caponio, ND

Education:

After graduating from the Kinesiology and Health Sciences program with honours at York University, I went on to complete the four-year naturopathic medical program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto Ontario. During my time at CCNM, I treated patients at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic in the specialty Sports Medicine shift, as well at the Brampton Urgent Care Centre, and the Flemingdon Community Health Centre.

I am certified and affiliated with the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND), and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

Philosophy:

No one should have to feel limited and belittled by their health. No one should have to be told that their abnormal symptoms are “fine” or “normal".  I strive to work with you to identify the root cause of your health concerns and to develop a sustainable and achievable plan to get you back to feeling your best. A firm believer in an evidence-based approach, I addresses each patient as an individual and doesn’t believe in a one size fits all method. I advocate for using both standard and advanced laboratory tests to guide assessment and  both conventional and natural treatments to target your unique presentation and get you back to feeling your best.

I believe that everyone can feel like an athlete. Physical activity and movement is essential to achieve optimal physical, mental, and spiritual health. Not only should everyone have access to a form of movement that they enjoy, but also access to education and treatment. Everyone deserves the same treatment and respect as the professional athletes, regardless of your athleticism, age, gender, body type, or health goals!

“Growing up as a student athlete, I always knew there was something more that I could have been using to elevate my game. Myself, along with my teammates, didn’t have this type of exposure of healthcare. It could have prevented so many injuries and disordered eating habits that I had due to the lack of education from professionals. The fact that I’m now able to be that person for others and help them prevent making the same mistakes I’ve made is something that words cannot even to describe.”
