It is when I worked in Community Medicine at the University of Calgary focusing on mental health and social determinants of health where I was introduced to Naturopathic Medicine. This sparked my calling to help others in a direct way. I graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where I completed a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (ND). I also hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from McGill University. During the fourth year of my clinic internship I treated patients at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and the LAMP Community Health Center. Using natural therapies, I am passionate about health, my goal is to inspire others to make positive lifestyle choices to enjoy healthier lives. The principle of ‘Doctor as Teacher' has always resonated with me and I believe that by providing patients with knowledge and tools, they become empowered to reach their optimal level of health. I work as a health detective to identify the root causes of your health concerns and whatever obstacles are preventing you from reaching your goals.
I am a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and I am registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO).
Naturopathic medicine blends modern science with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and prevent and treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, an underlying imbalance, and unfavourable lifestyle habits. If you’re looking for natural solutions that get to the root of your problems, not just more medications that don’t really give you your health back, you’ve come to the right place. I treat a variety of conditions for the whole family, for more information visit www.drswamynd.com
When not busy in the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family, being creative, cooking, gardening, connecting with nature, meditating, doing yoga and watching movies.
