Clinical focus: Oncology, Adults
Dr. Gillian Flower ND is a long-term member of the clinical team at the Cenre for Health Innovation (the CHI). She works exclusively with adults that are touched by cancer, whether by an active diagnosis, a precancerous condition, a personal history, or a family history of cancer. Dr. Flower focuses on the needs of each individual person, identifying their priorities and crafting an individualized treatment plan, drawing primarily from nutritional, botanical and mind-body strategies. She works with people receiving treatment for cancer with an aim to supporting the whole person and mitigating side effects.
Dr. Flower has additional certification in intravenous (IV) therapies, and oversees the operations of the IV suite at the CHI. She is a member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP) and of both the Canadian and Ontario Associations of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND and OAND respectively). She is a regular contributor to alive magazine and is a member of its editorial advisory board. Dr. Flower has also co-authored several systematic research reviews evaluating natural health product use in people with breast cancer.
Dr. Flower is an alumna of both the University of Toronto and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Upon graduation from CCNM, she was honoured with the prestigious Joyce Vanderburgh Scholarship for most outstanding clinical performance and patient interaction.
When she is not providing patient care, she can be found either on her bike, on foot or on skis, discovering the beauty and exercise opportunities in the National Capital Region, or finding creative ways to feed her children more vegetables.
