Dr. Joe Boucher ND and his colleagues created the Canadian Research and Education Society (CNERS) back in 1987. The name was eventually changed to the Canadian Naturopathic Foundation (CNF) to better reflect the work of the charitable foundation in supporting naturopathic medicine.

- Providing information and guidance to Canadians on general health and wellness, and the benefits naturopathic medicine offers in the treatment of specific diseases, disorders or illnesses.
- Funding research related to naturopathic medicine.
- Providing scholarships to students studying naturopathic medicine.
The Canadian Naturopathic Foundation is a national charitable foundation that supports research and public education for the advancement of naturopathic medicine in Canada.
